CIBC's "MIRACLE DAY" BENEFITS COMPANIONS IN COURAGE

Investment company donates more than $31,000

NEW YORK, NY, February 22, 2005 - Children's Miracle Day is a one-day event during which CIBC World Markets sales and trading staff and financial consultants donate their fees and commissions to children's charities. This year, Companions in Courage Foundation was the recipient of $31,484 generated by the program.

The foundation will utilize the funds to continue its work in building interactive game rooms at children's hospitals throughout North America.

Scott Lohan of CIBC World Markets in New York City nominated CiC Foundation for the award. He invited Pat LaFontaine to visit CIBC's New York trading floor on Miracle Day. LaFontaine was joined by a host of celebrities, including pro wrestler, Mick Foley and Olympic champion gymnast, Carly Patterson.

Since 1984, Miracle Day, the first Wednesday of each December, CIBC employees have generated over $100 million for children the world over. "Miracle Day is about our employees making an ongoing commitment to children," said Susan Storey, chair of the CIBC World Markets Children's Miracle Foundation. "Miracle Day provides one element of support for charities requiring funding. But our employees and clients extend that contribution to ensure the health, well-being and education of all children by committing their time and energy to organizations 365 days a year, all around the world."

All offices of CIBC World Markets in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, as well as CIBC Wood Gundy offices in Canada were a part of Miracle Day 2004.

About the Companions in Courage Foundation

The Companions in Courage Foundation was founded by NHL Hall-of-Famer Pat LaFontaine as a response to the inspiration he derived while visiting children in hospitals during his 15-year career. Our immediate goal is to raise funds to build interactive playrooms in children's hospitals throughout North America. Through innovative communications tools, these playrooms will replace the isolation of a hospital with a connection to family, friends and celebrities during their hospital stay.
